went to beijing for a bit

i was back in beijing from 10-20 june and... well, i ate a lot.

  1. got my hair cut and permed

  2. idk what technique they used but it cost a bomb and the hairstylists apparently go over to japan to learn japanese techniques all the time. they actually washed my hair right after the perm lol.

anyway it was a weird experience. the hairstylist literally fed me strawberries. yes, he FED ME. ?!?!?!?!? and the assistant was like a year or two younger than me. also he asked me if i had a boyfriend. !??!?

i put it down to marketing ploys but i was really weirded out.

anyway, now i style my hair even less than before. i used to braid it or put it in buns to keep it out of the way, or i'd at least comb it once in a while, but now.... heh. let's just say i wouldn't be bothered if i suddenly lost all my combs.

  3. went to a cat cafe

  4. chinese cat cafes (or at least the one i went to) are kind of different from japanese cat cafes. i went to 猫小院, which is kind of big, i guess? it had four floors and a tons of cool cats. like a pair of savannah cats! they were huuuge. and a sphinx or two. and maine coons!!

anyway, my previous experience with cat cafes in japan was that they charge for the time. so half an hour might be 500 yen (idk the actual prices, i forgot) and subsequent half hours might be cheaper? and they throw in a free drink or free flow of drinks.

but the cat cafe in beijing is more like a cafe that just happens to have a ton of cats in it. you just sit down and order food. yes, real food. there's no time limit or anything.

idk because it seems like this particular cat cafe is booming, so this model probably works well for them.

  5. ate a lot of food

  6. here are some pictures of food.

  7. went on a little trip out to baodingdong

  8. someone was growing opium poppies in their backyard, literally, but you didn't hear it from me.
    it was very scenic.

ok that's all.

oh, right, i also got a bluetooth earpiece and a smartwatch out of the the trip.
