summary of the previous few years

i suppose i persist with this blog thing because its easier than writing an offline diary. cant search a diary after all - once i flip the page its like it never existed. every day i thank the invention of the search function. and digitisation.

over the past few years whats happened is that i started working, and working out. and dating. and then work sort of took over my entire life. and dating. then work started really affecting me as a person so i started planning to quit. but i guess some god out there was looking out for me.

in 2024 i had a resignation letter drafted in my work email.

in 2025 i gave a company wide training where i shared my screen and my chatgpt convo about 'resignation letter' was clearly visible in the sidebar

in 2026 april turns out my narc mom has stage 4 cancer. still on the fence about how i feel about that

in 2026 may i started getting actual legit injuries every few days. like it was gnarly. im not superstitious but i was genuinely starting to feel like i was cursed or doing something majorly wrong with my life. for 2 months straight i could not stop getting injured. whats worse is that i was on LEAVE 'taking care' of my mom so i wasnt even working. its like falling sick on PTO days.

in 2026 july i had my ducks in a row and i was going to quit on aug 12. but as luck would have it, they terminated me in the last week of july.

funny because my manager said it was due to my role being made redundant, but later hr refused to confirm anything and kept saying it was a contractual termination. long long LONG story behind it, but the long and short of it is that this bitch hated me for a mysterious reason. i still dont know what it is btw.

either way my injuries stopped the day i was terminated. haha. oh and all my colleagues and clients were devastated. moderate length story but it was all very validating for my ego. i compulsively cannot break out of my work character so just imagine a 200% nicer and more polite version of me who just looks at my paycheck instead of voicing out anything im unhappy about. i used to voice it in my first few years of work but the same old corporate story goes, nobody cared so i also stopped caring.

its been about 3 weeks since i stopped working and its actually taken me this long to just progress beyond daily tasks. burnout is no joke. like i genuinely forgot i actually enjoyed thinking by myself and pondering about useless things. forgot i actually wanted to be productive in my own little ways instead of scrolling tiktok all day. forgot i actually knew english and could use more varied sentences than some stupid report or like putting on a show for the clients.

anyway currently im quite atheist, superstitious as a hobby, misandrist and misanthrophic. just thought id write this down somewhere in case i forget and delude myself into thinking i was a different person at this point of time than i actually was.

im supposed to do a few things during this break.

  1. learn to drive in china
  2. learn to drive in sg
  3. take my pmp cert
  4. write my resume
ignoring the non-goal actions like recovering from burnout, and the obvious conclusion that i need to find my next job.

oh and i need to start paying for my bto next year. thank god my ex exists - im still mad at him for various things, but this guy doesnt mind slogging for work, and most importantly he doesnt mind paying for things he gets no tangible benefit from.

i mean, as all good men should. no man in my personal life should ever be calculating about money. thats my job. 1 penny pinching asshole is enough for any relationship.

also i lost a few thousand dabbling in the 2026 gold speculation. not a big deal but what makes me mad is that i KNEW it was going to crash. at one point i was up 10% in a couple of days and i was going to cash out at any moment, but i was late and lost money instead. good thing i have sense and my years of DCA more than made up for any losses, but losing a single cent pisses me off.

its a sad state of the world when we're speculating on gold. but moving on.

oh i guess im done actually. might come back with more thoughts another day.

oh oh and i have to update that my dell inspiron 13 from over a decade ago is literally LITERALLY rotting away but still works perfectly. im... whats a word thats more than amazed? theres really no words for this, the rubber is literally flaking off, the camera is actually exposed because part of the screen fell off, i cannot describe how this has exceeded not only my expectations, but also my delusions.

like the keyboard still works perfectly. no cleaning. no keyboard cover. my thinkpad for work - ive gone through 5 of those!! and one where the keyboard fully stopped working in a patch and i had to use the on screen keyboard for a while.

only 1 green line on the screen and its like 1 pixel wide and hardly noticeable. and i used to keep this thing plugged in day and night for months on end, for my torrents.

stronger than my will to live fr

Suzaku meets him for the first time under a summer tree.

The boy is facing the sky, with his eyes closed. The softly shifting leaves create an ever-changing pattern on his cheeks, as if caressing the pale skin with their edges. He looks like porcelain, meticulously shaped, his features lovingly made by the hands of God.

Suzaku’s breathing smooths to match the subtle shifting of the leaves. His eyes can’t leave the boy’s slight figure. He keeps tracing the lines over and over, superimposed over this boy.

He might have made a sound, he’s not too sure. Perhaps he was too excited, moved by the scene in front of him. But the boy opens his eyes, and turns to look at Suzaku.

And his eyes are the darkest purple that Suzaku has ever seen.

“It’s you,” he says, almost like an exhale.

--

Suzaku grows up in a village close to the prosperous Kingdom of Britannia. Though small, the Kingdom has subjugated neighbouring countries many times its size. It operates as a supervisor, of sorts, receiving taxes in return for managing the Numbers.

Suzaku has been drawing ever since he was a baby. He’s honestly not any good at it, but he keeps at it for some reason. He draws birds, flowers, buildings, but there’s only ever one person in his drawings. It’s a boy, who ages along with him.

Sometimes he wakes up with his heart beating fast, a fading image of the boy in his mind. The boy has dark hair, that much he knows. But his face is only a smudge of light beige with a smiling mouth. He keeps at it, though. He scribbles tiny stick figures on his schoolwork, he sits alone on a tree every afternoon, tongue between his teeth and frowning as he tries to draw out the elegant lines of the boy’s face.

It frustrates him that his fingers aren’t delicate enough to draw the lines as smoothly as he wants. He’s seen real artists when they move through the village, giving demonstrations or displaying their art. Those are real drawings, made with proper ink. Those lines dip and rise as they’re supposed to, not clumsily like his own botched attempts.

He’s tried to give up time and time again, but when he’s sitting idly by the river or breathing fog on a cold window, his fingers start tracing the boy again. He looks down and there’s a reasonable facsimile of a boy in the wet soil, little downward strokes for his hair and wavering sideways strokes as his arms and legs.

Suzaku doesn’t know where the boy comes from, or how he came to know of his image. Sometimes he thinks he’s mad, for fixating on a fuzzy image of someone he doesn’t even know. Sometimes he wonders if he’s just losing his mind. But day after day, year after year, Suzaku keeps at his little doodles, and even manages to make them a little more refined, though his fingers remain as calloused as ever from working on the farm.

He still has an odd, irrational conviction that the boy exists, that he’s going to meet him someday. It comes from somewhere deep inside, deeper than his heart and more embedded in his mind than even his own name. By the time he’s fifteen, he’s given up all hope that the boy actually exists, but still he believes, in a way that he can’t even explain to himself. It’s like a reflex, like when his hands start catching a ball before his mind realises that there’s a ball coming towards him. He knows it like he knows the sky is blue, even when the sky is no longer in view. He’s never had a single shred of evidence that such a boy exists, but his body knows it. His mind knows it. His subconscious knows it.

Lelouch grows up as the 17th Crown Prince of Britannia. He has so many siblings, half-siblings, and cousins that 17th is pretty high up the chain of power, and so he grows up with the heavy understanding of just how important he is.

He’s left alone for most of his days, despite his importance. His father has no time for him, of course, and his mother is too busy being his father indispensable Right Hand that he barely sees her either. She’s a vibrant fae-like creature to him, a little capricious and sometimes frighteningly sharp, but he knows that she loves him, like he knows so many other things.

Lelouch has his daily lessons and a never-ending parade of royal tutors, but he finds those lessons incredibly boring. He dozes off as he pleases, secure in the knowledge that he likely knows the country’s operations better than his tutors themselves. After all, there are certain things about the country that no one tells academics, but lets slip to children with alarming frequency.

His days are stagnant, a slow-moving idyll of falling asleep in gardens to the sounds of songbirds and the scent of fine Britannian roses. When he closes his eyes, he falls into stasis, where there are no attendants hurrying after him, no tutors chasing him for homework, and no incompetent nannies crying about his contrary nature.

“Suzaku, it’s time for school!” Kaguya’s cheerful voice finds him halfway up a tree, sitting on the branches again, scribbling in a little notebook. He’s biting on his tongue and it sticks out of the corner of his mouth.

He scribbles for a while more, then shouts down at Kaguya, “Just a moment!”

Suzaku stares down at his childish drawings. They look like chicken scratches, like those chaotic marks in the ground that Old Man Kirihara’s chickens leave. They don’t look anything like what he’d envisioned, which was a young boy with dark hair and a sullen little mouth. Suzaku stares a bit more, and put the end of the pencil to his chin. The hair looks a little similar, he muses.

He tries to smooth out the hair with some extra strokes, to give it some texture, but it only distorts the shape to the point where he’s no longer sure it even looks like hair. Sighing, he closes his notebook and gives up. “I’m coming down, Kaguya.”

The sun’s up in the sky, bright and cheerful at midmorning. Suzaku puts up his hand to shade his eyes, and squints at Kaguya. She’s a tiny girl, two years younger than him at five, but much smaller physically than even a girl of five has any right to be. She barely looks like she can make her own way out of the house, never mind all the way to school.

He gives her a fond smile.

“Were you drawing again, Suzaku?” she asks, spying the notebook in his hands. She looks up at him with wide, curious eyes.

He nods, a little embarrassed. Out of all the people he knows, Kaguya is the only one who doesn’t laugh or sneer at his attempts to draw, or dismiss the drawings as pointless like his parents do. Kaguya is like an innocent little lamb, always pestering him to let her see his drawings and complimenting them.

He’s still a little embarrassed, though. The boy in his dreams is something private to him, something that he wants to keep close to his heart as if others’ eyes would spoil the dream-memories even more than his own inadequate drawings.

Still, he opens up the notebook to show Kaguya his latest drawing as they walk to the village school. Her friendly chatter becomes a pleasing background noise as he thinks about the boy, again.

He’d had another dream the night before. This time the boy had been lying in a bed of roses, dark hair framing his face, aligning perfectly with his sharp cheekbones. His nose buried in a rose, nudging its petals apart to show the deep burgundy centre. He’s asleep, as he frequently is in Suzaku’s dreams, long eyelashes grazing his skin, soft breaths coming from his parted mouth.

Suzaku had watched him sleep, captivated by how delicate the boy is.

Suzaku is used to calloused hands from farm work. He helps his parents out on their farm, just as every child in the village helps their parents. He plows the fields, feeds the animals, chops small pieces of firewood to stuff in the fireplace so that fire catches easily. He washes clothes by the river, cold water seeping up his trouser legs as he feels the rough edges of the washing board catch at his pruning fingers.

But the boy doesn’t have a single callous on his pale hands. In the dream, Suzaku’s eyes had fallen on the boy’s manicured fingers half-hidden by the grass. They’re soft, free from callouses, and very, very pale. The Suzaku in the dream had reached out to hold the lonely hand, and he had held it and watched the boy sleep until he had woken up from the dream.

--

In class, he listens half-heartedly as the teacher goes on and on about addition. He’s mildly interested because he likes maths, but his eyes are busy tracing the outlines of the boy from his dreams. Suzaku imagines the boy sitting next to him on the bench, his hands on the wooden table, his pencils scattered around his notebooks and rolling into Suzaku’s space.

He wonders how the boy writes. In his mind’s eye, Suzaku watches the boy curl his elegant fingers around a pencil, watches the muscles tense and move under his skin as painstakingly perfect cursive script flows from the pencil tip.

In the background, his classmates’ boisterous shouting is distant and removed. He can vaguely hear Kaguya scolding a boy sitting at the front of the class, but he can’t make out her words. She just sounds angry. His eyes are fixed on the imaginary boy beside him, on his starched white shirt, his impeccable posture, and his mouth that’s tucked into a pout.

“… … can answer the question? Suzaku?”

“Yes,” he replies reflexively. “Yes?” he says again, louder, dragging his eyes away from the boy’s white, unblemished hands. There’s a maths question written on the blackboard and the teacher is looking at him expectantly. He rouses himself from his daydreams, the boy beside him fading.

“Um,” he says uncertainly. His fingers move as he discretely counts out the answer. “It’s five?”

“That’s right, Suzaku,” the teacher praises him warmly. “Okay, everyone, how about this question? Does anyone … …”

She becomes background noise again, and Suzaku bites his lip, looking back at the space beside him reluctantly before trying his best to follow the rest of the lesson.

--

There’s a

The summer heat sets his skin tingling with electricity, the warm air heavy and stifling on his lungs as he lays next to Suzaku under the shade of an apple tree. Suzaku is warmer than the air, all tousled brown hair and sweaty tanned skin. Lelouch feels his skin burn where Suzaku’s arm is carelessly thrown over his.

He’s the one who makes the decision to place his fingertips on Suzaku’s arm, drag it down all the way to Suzaku’s hand and until he can place their palms together. He’s the one who turns to meet Suzaku’s eyes, a specific kind of certainty in their gaze.

It starts with Suzaku’s little open-mouthed, inaudible gasp. Lelouch feels it, though, feels it curling deep in his lower stomach as he stares as Suzaku’s pretty pink lips. z

“I don’t understand, Lelouch,” he manages to squeeze out of his chest, his voice rising in volume despite his attempts to keep it down. His throat feels tight. The frustration builds up in him, and anger pounds in his head, begging to be let out. His clenched fingers leave nails marks in the palm of his hand, little crescent indents.

His words bounce off the walls until he can no longer even understand what’s coming out of his mouth. “I just, why won’t you love yourself?”

It ends loud, the last of the echoes coming back to him as he pants harshly in the sudden silence.

Suzaku is acutely aware, now, of the grit of the stone floor imprinting its pattern on to the flesh of his hands. He’s been sitting on his legs and his ankles are rubbed raw on the rough stone. The anger recedes, waves drawing themselves back into nothingness, leaving his mind clean, empty.

“I wish I could love myself too, Suzaku, but that’s not going to happen.”

Lelouch smiles at him sadly, the curl of lips carrying a bitter tinge. In the soft light coming from the barred window high above their heads, Lelouch looks angelic, the light smoothing out the lines on his too-tense face. It makes his lips look soft, gentle, despite the words coming from his mouth. Suzaku fancies that he can see the dust motes swirl as Lelouch breathes and speaks.

The moment here, the two of them alone in this cell, feels to Suzaku like a suspension of time. He could spend years sitting on the cold stone floor, looking up at Lelouch’s face looking back down at him. Years could pass in between one blink and the next, the chill of the stones slowly creeping up his limbs and freezing him in place. His eyes trace Lelouch’s profile as they have done a million times before, lovingly, as leisurely as they had back in the apple orchards behind Suzaku’s house.

Lelouch hasn’t changed much, if at all. His jaw a little shaper, eyes a little more knowing. But Suzaku can still see those lines superimposed over the delicate face, his own painstaking pencil drawings that outline a straight nose and parted lips over a hint of teeth.

He thinks about his notebooks back at the farm, notebooks and notebooks filled with Lelouch’s face. Lelouch sleeping, eating, smiling. Lelouch being angry, sad, petulant. Lelouch half turning towards him, hair ruffled by the wind and lips almost forming a smile. He thinks about those notebooks, and how his crayon drawings have improved year by year until he could sketch a reasonably accurate facsimile of Lelouch on the fly.

The year before he’d been drafted, he had finally started on colour. He had could capture the essence of Lelouch’s face in a few light strokes at that point. It only took so many lines to give shape to those aristocratic bones, and he knew all those strokes by heart, by muscle. He had finally started to smudge colour into the pencil, spending hours huddled by the river, soaking his trousers up to the knee and catching pneumonia in autumn, searching for violets the exact shade of Lelouch’s eyes.

Suzaku wishes he could have drawn Lelouch like this before they both left Britannia, all pensive and gentle in the light. His eyes are almost thistle, half-lidded, placid. He wishes Lelouch could see himself like this, the tilt of his head catching the light on his cheekbones, casting shadows on the hollows of his cheeks.

Instead Lelouch is looking at him. Suzaku knows he’s hardly anything worth looking at. He knows his own face well; he can feel the dust on the rounded end of his nose and the dirt all over his face. He hasn’t had a wash in weeks, perhaps months. He wonders what Lelouch thinks of him, belligerent in his tattered uniform, the Britannia symbol still stitched over his heart. Does Lelouch find him pitiful? Helpless? Useless, even?

He drags his eyes away from Lelouch, shame climbing up his shoulders.

“I’m sorry, Lelouch,” he says into the quiet air. “I… I didn’t mean to shout at you. I don’t know what you’re going through – “

“I really like you, Suzaku,” Lelouch says frankly.

The words don’t carry in the wind. He says it like he does when he tells Suzaku about algebra, a little bored and like it doesn’t matter at all, because Suzaku will probably never find a use for it his entire life. What’s he going to do, algebraically calculate the rate of yield relative to rainfall per season? Lelouch says it like he couldn’t imagine it could mean anything at all to Suzaku, dropping those words as carelessly as blades of grass plucked by idling hands.

But it matters to Suzaku, so much. He feels the emotion swelling in his chest, growing bigger and bigger and filling up all the spaces from his lungs to his heart. He wants to say it out loud, shout it into the sky.

The Lelouch standing in front of him is as beautiful as a marble statue, all smooth skin and artfully tousled hair swaying in the wind. Completely natural, honest, eyes speaking straight from his soul.

Suzaku wants to say those words back to the boy in front of him, but his lips hardly know how to move, so blindsided by those words that it’s almost as if the nerves connecting them to his brain have been severed. He can only look at Lelouch, the soft wind dancing around them in a cocoon.

“I,” he starts.

Then he stops, because he knows that he can’t say it like Lelouch had, all casual. He wouldn’t be able to stop it from meaning too much, being too possessive, too presumptuous. Even in this small moment, he admires Lelouch’s ability to so finely balance his words.

He settles for a meek, “Me too,” knowing that it’s inadequate and so far from what he really wanted to say.

Lelouch accepts it anyway, with a kind of grace in his nod that makes Suzaku suddenly profoundly aware of Lelouch’s royal blood.

Lelouch thinks back to those times when he had been free to run around barefoot in the mud with Suzaku.

He’d envied Suzaku so many things, back then.

He’d been jealous of Suzaku’s peasant friends, with their healthy tanned skin the picture of vitality, and their wide, genuine smiles. They were always full of laughter, so innocent in the bright sunlight.

He had in turn envied those boys their sun-kissed days, picking fruits and feeding farm animals. He’d been jealous of their honest work, of how the sun would set the sweat on their brows glittering like jewels on a crown, each of them a prince in their own right, just for a moment.

He’d envied so many things about those boys, but he’d envied Suzaku most of all, for being so careless with his affections, so easily opening his heart to the sullen Lelouch that had fallen into his life. He hadn’t been able to fathom how Suzaku could have made enough space in his heart to love even Lelouch, who oppressed the peasantry with his every breath in his status as a prince of Britannia.

Lelouch knows, had known from the very first words that Suzaku had spoken to him (It’s you.) that Suzaku is a far better person than he could ever be. He wasn’t capable of being good like Suzaku, he lacks a certain indescribable something deep in his heart that precludes it. But Suzaku had always been so good, and Suzaku would always continue to be good.

Suzaku is good even now, dirty and humiliated in a foreign prison cell. His eyes still shine with that innate purity that saves Lelouch anew each time he sees it.

Today, Lelouch is aware that he’s here to dull that shine, to kill that light in Suzaku’s warm brown eyes. He hates himself for it, all the way down to the marrow of his bones. He’ll never forgive himself for this, he knows, but this is the only way that he can bring back those green meadows of their youth.

If only he could lie in those meadows again, barefoot and sticky with sweat, with the grass prickling at his neck and the sun warming his toes. He’s been fighting for that, in his own way, these whole five years. He holds on to that single pure thought when his hands tremble, when he’s convinced that he’ll die in this godforsaken country where no one would shed even half a tear for his passing.

He holds on to it now, when he looks Suzaku in the eyes

2016 july - things i dug out from a decade ago

context: probably back in my school days when i saw some classmates doing more PR than lasting  effects. it's like 'we reached out to 999 people in need' vs '999 people were lifted out of poverty through our organisation's efforts' kind of thing.

i mean... flowers can't save the world, you know?

it's honestly something like a circlejerk. the kind of circlejerk where they sit around and jerk off their do-gooder egos while leaving minimum impact on the world.

ugh, i mean. they ARE trying to do good. but it's in an ineffectual way. and then they feel good about it.

and it makes me so angry. how dare you. feel good about doing jackshit.

okay, that might be a bit too harsh. what i mean is, how dare they overestimate the impact of their actions. how dare they be so naive and satisfied with that naivety? how dare everyone else allow them to stop there?

and, my real question is: do they really want to do good, if they're satisfied with stopping at that ineffectual point?

so let me go back to the point that i started with.

i feel like this do-gooder attitude of theirs is way too perfect. so conventionally perfect that i honestly don't believe that's how they're really like as a person. i... maybe i have too much faith in their abilities, but having known them as classmates, i feel like they are definitely capable of thinking beyond that do-gooder circlejerk.

i feel like, on some level, they're aware that what they're doing leaves no lasting impact. and i believe that, at least part of the reason for why they're doing whatever project that they're doing, is for the applause.

but they.. just don't say it. they... pretend that, well, they truly buy into the do-gooder circlejerk. and i think they pretend to themselves too.

and i just, i think about all the wasted things that went into this circlejerk.

the time that they took to interview people for their project. the time spent on designing whatever promotional picture. the time that everyone else took to read and praise them.

it actually makes me angry because those things are so empty, and those things could've done so much more in the hands of someone who didn't pretend superficial "spreading awareness" projects can save the world, in the hands of someone who was trying to help in a practical way.

i mean, if you don't really care about those underprivileged people, please don't pretend to be. it's a waste, and it's cruel.

those people that i'm talking about, they talk about being so excited to help people and to right all the wrongs of the world, but they're not doing much more than me, in reality. BUT the difference is that they expect and receive praise for their meaningless efforts.

i did say that maybe i was just being bitter but really...

please direct your praise to someone more worthy.

if you praise people for doing inconsequential things, then they feel like they've done enough and they stop there. there's no benefit to anything or anyone other than their egos.

so ultimately, what i wanted to say is that i hate people who pretend to be a perfect little do-gooder but actually do nothing at all. if you're going to put all that effort into something to prove that you're a do-gooder, then at least put that effort into something useful and productive.

it's part of a bigger principle like,

don't do anything that has no utility. everything has a utility. but if you can't identify the utility of an action, please don't do it. because then you'll waste effort and do meaningless things and not accomplish anything because you weren't even sure what you wanted in the first place.

/grits teeth

i just wish that everyone would think clearly before doing things. at least justify it to yourself, come on. it's pathetic when you rally some force to do something, but then someone questions the principles/reasoning behind your actions and the whole thing falls apart. if that's going to be the end result then why did you waste all that time gathering a force and preparing things!

!!

i REALLY hate waste and inefficiency. and this do-gooder jerk circle is nothing but trash.

i could deal with do-gooders. their attitude annoys me but they do good. the circlejerk, on the other hand, needs to be put into the burnable trash.

so, tl;dr: don't put on a do-gooder front, be an actual do-gooder

personal philosophical struggles

i really need to adjust myself. i just cant hold everyone else to my own standards.

basically 跟认知低的人说话本就是吃亏的行为

i cant be feeling unfair and like im on the losing end, if i talk to people that i KNOW have low awareness. thats me expecting the sky to turn green. like of course im going to lose out from the start.

on the other hand i feel like acknowledging that the world runs this way is a massive blow to my younger self that still remains a part of me. like a really massive blow.

how do i say it? like i really thought that humanity might share principles. but turns out its more like just cause and effect to get the outcome i want, regardless of beliefs. like i thought i might receive understanding. but really its just me feeling disappointment and selecting the words to induce the actions i desire from others. very alienating

apart from the alienation, it makes me feel like im superior to those people, which is not something i ever want to feel. its not me feeling superior, it's really me thinking im the norm and looking down on them, which is what i object to. i think apart from the basic principle that it's bad to look down on people, it also makes me underestimate people, and makes it hard for me to learn specific skills from them since i look down on them so much. like its limiting my own growth.

im perfectly capable of recognising that someone is a horrid person, but also has certain skills superior ot me. and not only recognising but also actually learning from them. this distinction is important to me because i've realised from experience that people are genuinely so awful at conflating a lot of things. like some people assume recognising a fact means learning from it. no, recognising something and learning that thing for youself are compoletely different things.

this realisation doesnt stop me from being frustrated and annoyed that people keep conflating things. i legitimately feel always gaslit by this world. like why am i stuck explaining the difference... these are so plainly different things...

i feel very tired and always like im fighting against everything just to have peace and quiet in my brain. its very hard to accept that people understand things differently. i dont mean that i struggle to accept people having different values and preferences. im ok with that.

but rather its like people are arguing with me over 1+1=2 and they have literally no argument other than just saying it. like im literally placing 2 slices of cake on the table, we all acknowledge 1 piece and 1 piece and there's 2 pieces, and they still insist 1+1 isn't 2, and they're not capable of articulating any reason for it.

also then they act like im the crazy one.

fundamental disagreements, nothing to learn or relate to, no frame of understanding, then them acting like im crazy

its enough to make anyone break down and cry like a baby. and ngl i really do just feel like crying every time. theres only so many times i can do this stuff, but it feels like every moment of every day im having to struggle and fight just to maintain enough strength to tell MYSELF that this is how the world works.

oh and no reward or recognition for being the only sane person. just more hardship for no fucking reason.

sometimes i wonder why do i even bother being like this when its obviously easier to just be like the rest of them. but i feel like if i gave up id be losing the entire core of myself, like i would fundamentally just become a different uninteresting person. and i dont want to lose myself.

it really drives me crazy when people just dont have a 结果。。。?like an outcome or conclusion

today the argument was 'i SAID i'll clean the mess that i made' and im like 'so we've been arguing for hours and DID YOU ACTUALLY DO IT' and they just shout back like 'I SAID I WOULD' as if that affects reality.

my brother made the toilet dirty and i went to complain to my mom. i mean, she's his mom right? and besides everyone my whole life told me to stop fighting w my brother and let my parents handle it

so of course my mom starts being crazy like 'what do u wan me to do' and shouting like im wrong. isnt that crazy? i mean its obvious. go handle your son so i can have a normal toilet to use.

then my brother gets mad that im talking to mom instead of him. well, which time when i've told him to do something, has he actually done it? why would i talk to him instead of someone who'll actually get the result i want (a clean toilet)

so im arguing with my brother and everyones acting like im wrong. my mom goes and cleans the toilet and my brother blames ME for making her do it. i didnt ask her to do it and HES the one who made it dirty. but somehow its my fucking fault again

i just feel so wronged all the damn time. and also gaslit. like everyone agrees he made the mess. everyone agrees she cleaned it up. and yet somehow im to blame. as if i should just stay quiet and either clean his mess up for him, or just accept lower cleanliness standards.

oh and im also angry at myself at the same time. like how many times does it take for me to learn forever that this is how things will turn out. how many times must i make myself go through this just to learn this truth.

not to mention my dad always only scolding me when im snarky but not my brother when hes straight out insulting me? like my dad's brain is only primed to notice bad things about me and not everyone else. like double standards. as if its normal for me to be insulted but an absolute crime if i were to imply something bad about other people.

and not me asking to speak to my dad for 2 min but hes always responding to my bro and my mom making useless interjections so i dont get to speak. so for 1hr i tried to talk to him for 2min and i still didnt get to finish. and not him saying hes giving me priority when where is the priority? i freaking scheduled his time and he agreed. whats priority about it. did anyone else schedule his time??

not me finishing my point and all he says is 'are you done talking'. i felt such severe disappointment and disgust. not only for him but also for myself for even trying. i felt humiliated by myself (not by him) because its not the first time im feeling this disappointment. i felt like i should've known better than to put myself in this place.

i dont get the therapy stuff about not blaming myself. i mean if they're always going to act like this, and they're not going to change, then if i want to avoid this situation, im the only one capable of effecting any change. so it IS on me. basically if you think of them as NPCs. if i keep doing the wrong thing in a game shouldn't i be blaming myself?

not that i go to therapy but i do search up what therapists and people who go to therapy say. i just dont think the ROI of therapy is worth the money and time to me.  therapy isnt going to change how other people act, which is my problem. maybe it'll help me see things differently but that's also up to myself. if im not changing my own mind, how is a therapist going to change it for me.

also im in a state where i really cant take much more disappointment. disappointment thats a result of my own actions. like imagine pouring my heart out to someone and they just give me some useless response or turn out just as NPC as my family. i think that would be my 11th reason honestly.

i just feel quite helpless in the sense that... i cant know what will give me the result i want. i fully know and acknowledge that i cant control people, thats one thing im at peace with. but to try all different kinds of strategies and still not get the outcome i want? forget about them agreeing or understanding me, i wont ask for so much anymore. but rather i cant even get them to clean up their own dirty toilet immediately?

i mean, yes, my mom cleaned it, so i did get the clean toilet i needed. and i wonder if thats all i should ever expect. at LEAST i have a clean toilet to use. thats my goal, goal accomplished, doesnt matter if they call me crazy. should i be doing that? i cant really verbalise it but it kind of hurts me to operate that way in the world. like lonely or something? it's the AT LEAST that really gets me. i didnt come here to live a bare minimum life

i didnt come here to live a bare minimum life

but its very hard and painful to strive for more than that. i dont know if im strong or clever enough. that clever thing is about me not being willing to accept the limits of this life. like surely if im smarter, more manipulative, had more resources or edge, i would be able to at least get the actions i desire? because acknowledging limits is

1. kind of dumb because humans can literally fly now and we break what we considered limits every damn day

2. kind of suicidal like geez what else is there to live for if thats the limit

so i guess i just gotta cope by thinking im not xyz enough to get what i want. at least there's a direction i can move towards, at least i can have hope.

ON THE OTHER HAND AGAIN. this hope thing is really painful. like back to the original point, where its a losing game to even interact with someone with low awareness. i gotta have hope but thats also what destroys me every time.

i dont even know how to not hold people to my own standards. that makes me like arrogant? and i dont like feeling that way. it gives me a creeping sense that my downfall is right around the corner. im not good enough to be feeling so arrogant.

but also if i hold them to my standards i'll just be disappointed 24/7 and i really dont know how much disappointment a person can bear before they go batshit insane. this shit is not easy.

one more thing is that i just really want 1 person who im not always disappointed with. maybe even someone who can be disappointed with ME so that i can go improve myself.

im kind of losing interest in interacting with people. nowadays i feel a bit unhinged interacting with people. either i literally feel so much ennui i start ghosting them, or i feel mania (or what's consiered mania for me) and become extremely extroverted and willing to do some silly stuff (never anything with actual long lasting consequences) as if ''''nothing really matters''''

its kind of bothering me that i just feel this sense of distance with and dislike of people. i dont know if what i want is ambitious or humble. its certainly not ambitious in the traditional sense of the word but wanting an intellectual and emotional equal and compatible person isnt exactly something that everyone can achieve.

also im 29 this year and i just feel... am i not too old to be feeling this at odds with the world? i've been on earth a significant time. ive had a good enough time to be used to this shit... any longer and im going to hit my peak and start going downhill. i gotta adjust myself and enjoy that peak...

but i keep feeling like im losing out whenever i interact with individuals. im happy with nature and humanity. but individuals are driving me crazy. sometimes i feel like i have a perpetual headache. i dont think this is all life is meant to be, but i also dont really see how i can achieve that more from where im at

maybe i need to get a good solid dose of meds to scramble my preconceived ideas and get a fresh perspective.

4 June 2025

(20200704 or earlier with an update) so. everyone's talking about imposter syndrome now.

20200704

so. everyone's talking about imposter syndrome now.

i first read about it when i was like 14? that was some cool stuff to me back then, and i didn't think about it again until recently when everyone started talking about it. or at least that's what it seemed like.

i didn't really think it was something that could apply to me, because i haven't really done anything much in life. but as i was writing an essay (well, a lit review type of thing) i was suddenly hit by this incredible wave of anxiety.

what tf am i doing? i've been studying linguistics for 3 years but i don't know the technical terms. i don't know how to write a literature review. i don't know the format. i don't know what to say. i have no opinion on any of these things i'm reading about.

i almost gagged with worry. literally.

this all comes despite the fact that i literally just received an A+ on a (minor) assignment the other day, and the fact that my GPA, while nothing special, is totally decent. i'm the hon gen secretary for my society. i just left my position as head of print and publicity in my other club.

i know that i'm not going to fail this assignment. i've gotten 2 Cs in uni, both modules that i knew i was going to fail from the first day. but those were compulsory. even my worst efforts in other classes (a 1,100 word essay which i wrote in 4 hours, maybe less, then lied and said it was 1,200 words) have received a B+.

but still. i just, suddenly and irrationally feel like i'm here in a good university all by chance. that i'm actually dumb as a rock. that i'm going to graduate with exactly the same amount of knowledge i had when i matriculated, holding my stupid degree and shaking inside and hoping that nobody finds out that i actually know absolutely nothing.

my essay is half finished. i know exactly what i'm going to write and where i'm going to find that information. but i still just irrationally feel like an imposter.

there's so much more i could talk about, like how i was a gifted child, how my friends seem to think i'm clever and expect good results from me, things like that. success just doesn't feel good. it's a temporary high of maybe an hour, and then after that every time i think about my past successes i only ever feel worried that my next grade won't match up. so i just never think about those any more. and then i forget that i ever succeeded.

20250604

so anyway turns out majority of the human population are just babbling idiots not worthy of respect, and i can halfass my way into a decent and permissive job where sometimes i do fuck all the entire day and get praised for things i spend 10min on

i dont think im anything special and yet i can safely say im superior to a lot of people. this is highly disappointing of life and i expected better

utterly disgusted actually and unsure if having imposter syndrome is preferable to this

four years to the day since i last wrote a draft and life has disgusted me enough to bring me back here

i really thought i was done developing but apparently not!!

i always feel like... life in general owes me something for being not ONLY disappointing, but also just so... low quality... lacklustre... offputting... just so incredibly pointlessly bad

i ALWAYS always feel completely insane here. like... is my sense of whats normal just COMPLETELY off or what?? so completely off and wrong and THATS WHY im so consistently disappointed by literally everything?

because i think, just as an example, it would be this easy to achieve X. i would say X so that the other person would understand X. but am i crazy??? because why arent most people doing that??? like in fact most people say the most idiotic things like dfghjhgfd expecting the other person to understand X. i dont know how or why they expect it, they clearly dont THINK the other person will understand X because there is JUST NO THINKING HAPPENING.

AM I REALLY SO WRONG TO BELIEVE SAYING WHAT U MEAN IS NORMAL. what is wrong with using precise words?

and ok ok, i'll let it go if you have a reason to be poor at using your words. maybe you're a maths savant. bad at english. poor vocabulary.

BUT

someone who doesnt have any reason, i.e. has shown themselves perfectly capable of communicating clearly, literally says they want to learn to speak clearer... CONSISTENTLY NOT?? DOING THAT?? NOT EVEN SHOWING ANY SIGN OF TRYING>????

what i mean is, in a general conversation, if i say something dumb and the other person clearly doesnt get it, i just REASSESS WHETHER MY ACTIONS SERVE MY GOALS. i reread what i wrote and then use different words to explain again, more precisely. like one back and forth. idk maybe 2??

yet

them: ABC

me: huh?

them: yeah

me: huh??

them: huh??

ad nauseum

i mean OKAY at this point clearly you don't care if i understand you. right? RIGHT???? what other fucking reason could there be for you to act so braindead???? jesus

sometimes i just. think i should just leave the convo at this point

but im getting to the point

the point is i cant do that because

1. that idiot is probably someone who affects my salary

2. THE WORLD IS JUST FULL OF PEOPLE LIKE THAT?? it literally literally makes me want to die

like i genuinely get hit with an urge to kill myself every time i encounter one too many of these scenarios. NO i am not talking just about people being a dumbass in conversations

im talking about people who dont understand what they say. bitch like u said it urself??? how do u not get it. people who... okay i dont even have the energy to continue illustrating. but like in general, people who get in their own fucking way and dont even realise and then blames something else unrelated vehemently

there are jjust so many layers

least of all

if ur going to put so much energy into something at least bother to have ONE THINK (SINGULAR) about whether that thing is actually the problem????

genuinely genuinely want to kill myself. not specifically and only because of these things but like everything thats like the situations i just described. like these things make life seem completely worthless and not worth living to me. idk the words but just like a bone deep nothingness and apathy like i wouldnt notice or care if every single cell in my body disintegrated at that moment.

u might think im so angry!! but actually i am completely nihilistic when i encounter those things and thats why i intensely want to kill myself at those times

right now obviously ive decided to live with it, which makes me angry and not suicidal right now

anyway i just question whats good about life. like one single thing not so insufferably unbearable. sometimes it feels like everywhere i look i just see shit. steaming shit. shaped like humans. speaking.

millions of years of evolution to give you the capacity to be better. and you, not incapable of being better, but just NOT being better. NOT even being bare minimum. NOT even a thought passing through that medical marvel of a human brain. what a fucking waste of oxygen

backtrack

i know for a FACT i am not defensive at work. i feel the urge, yes sometimes, but i dont act out at work. its a transactional and logical thing. i am pretty much never emotional at work. i genuinely have just enough emotion at work to be not considered a creepy robot or a psychopath. ive been yelled at by psycho client bosses before. bit shaken but polite and productive. got a chat with HR because a dumbfuck reported me for man hating online. (btw how can it be man hating when men are categorically and scientifically, FACTUALLY worse at a great many things). nada. clients hounding me day and night, saying they felt abandoned because i replied the next morning to their 8pm message. just all kinds of shit.

i am NOT emotional. i understand emotions have no place at work, at least not my personal emotions. that is actually called EGO.

letting out your personal emotions at WORK is called mf EGO.

everyday i politely and productively reply. apologise all day for whats not my fault. always making sure i sound eager to please but not a pushover. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS all my clients love me. they prefer reaching out to me. they get upset because shit happens and they blame us... but never ME even when im actually the cause of the problem. they start conversations angry and end feeling heard and satisfied with the response. why? because i make it happen. i put aside my ego. i am singularly focused on the productive direction. there is no one single productive action but i am perpetually in the productive direction.

so tell me why my manager to be says she cant work with me. rhetorical question. the answer is actually that shes a smart and capable woman who lets her ego get ahead of her goals. shes getting in her own way and blames me for it

'do you think i tell my bosses excuses' no i never said that and i never even implied it. you asked me 'is my team THERE' and i asked you what you meant by 'THERE'. i asked you what you think this dept should be like. you berated me and said i should have a vision for my team. i said i do have a vision for my team. i asked you if you had asked me if i had a vision......... before berating me for not having one. i said tell me what your standards are, and i'll get my team to meet them. i said tell me where they're falling short and i'll fix that

she said i need to get on top of the accuracy rate. i said to my knowledge theres nothing wrong with the accuracy rate in my team. she cited client M. i said, do you actually know what's happening with M? i worked on it with the current sales to get the client to finally agree. she was not personally involved. no one from her department was involved. i asked her for a personnel and she declined to give me one.

i said, previously client M didnt want to sign, but now they do. between then and now, NOTHING about the accuracy rate changed. i said, doesn't that mean the accuracy rate was never the issue?

if you imagined that got a productive answer from her, youre naive

the saddest part is that i really respect her. thats why this disappointed me so much. only people you expect things from can disappoint you. i expected her to be sane. she showed me she was ego and emotions driven

you might think its just her

i have stories about most other people doing this shit. and i dont even interact with new people or a lot of people. i talk to the same handful of people every fucking day. they are the best ive found on earth so far. and they consistently disappoint me

i dont mean to say im amazing or something, but at least i dont act like im just a creature without conscious thought, driven by my subconscious and impulse. and ego. at least i dont act like im an NPC at the mercy of whatever storyline and characterisation fate decided to burden me with

thats why i just want to kill myself sometimes. i feel like facing the bare truth of the world is enough to strike me dead where i stand. sometimes i feel like im a single playable character in a world of NPCs and dying is the only way to escape. how can people exist like this? how can 8 billion people exist like this? how can the NORM be this? that makes me want to die

sometimes i look at people and they dont even register as humans. idk like wallpaper or something. thats the significance of their conscious thought at that moment. and at that moment i want to kill myself, finding myself so utterly alone on earth

usually i dont do that!! and theres people like colleague K whom i really just respect and think well of. hes someone who can set aside his ego too and i havent seen an exception in him yet. i respect people who use their ego instead of letting their ego use them. and hes really really intelligent and it calms me down to talk to him

i guess anyone can figure out im severely burn out and underrecognised. i dont know if im depressed but its not like i havent pulled myself out of depression before. its in my head, and if its in my head its under my control.

i mean short of actual physical issues resulting in depression etc

but idk how to fix burnout. its not like i can create enough money to have a safety net so big i dont need to sacrifice my wellbeing and self respect for a salary.

cause lets be honest if i didnt need this salary i wouldve cussed them out SO BAD. and i dont actually mean cussing them out because NOW irl i am absolutely calm and logical and really smooth in a disagreement. i would absolutely destroy them with cutting words while coming across as a good caring person, because at this point i potentially have pathologically lost the ability to be emotional at work. my adrenaline could be tearing me upppp inside but i think i pathologically became unable to show emotions in a work setting beyond friendly and helpful.

i guess one silver lining is that this could all potentially help me hate life skinnier since skinny is making a comeback. but i might also be completely unhinged at the end as well

oh and im actually quite devastated i dont get to speak like this irl. this is actually my real inner dialogue but my mouth cant be saying this because 98/100 people i know wouldnt even be able to process sentences like these. i think these are normal sentences though!! if a little long

the sadder thing is that the 2 people who could probably process this if i verbally said it are colleague K and my mf ex

and dont get me started on my ex i legitimately think he owes me half a house (apartment) for free for the shit he made me undergo. also a huge disappointment. used to crash out over him and now i genuinely cant imagine caring about him that much, but also he had a lot of uses and i miss having someone for those things a lot. mostly being an intelligent and soft person who only cares about me in the world. hard to find, yes. on counts one and three.

so yeah on top of everything i feel like im losing my verbal communication skills because i actually really need to dumb down and shorten everything, and limit myself to 1 logical step per sentence only. otherwise nobody i interact with on a daily basis can process it

I FUCKING WISH I WAS EXAGGERATING

i fucking wish i had just gone on an ego trip. because then i wouldnt feel like killing myself 5 times a day. i fucking wish i couldnt call anyone dumb because we're all just as smart as each other. i really fuckn wish

15 November 2020

i think the simplest way to explain it is: my mother has no sense of boundaries and no respect for others.

ever since i realised she's a full blown narcissist, i've started thinking about how she could seem so normal when i was younger. but here's the thing: she wasn't.

i always remember my father carrying baby me in one arm and cooking with the other arm, after he came home from work. my mother would be at the hospital, working as a nurse. and the way she told it, she was an amazing mom for making sacrifices.

i remember my dad buying me legos and building lego houses with me. i remember him doing puzzles with me. buying me sudoku books. teaching me electric circuits. and he was a full time phd student raising a family through grants. yet he always spent time with me, taught me things, explained things to me.

where was my mother? who the fuck knew. i don't actually have many memories of her.  all i knew was that my dad was the smart one, the reliable one, the one with solutions. the stable parent.

and i always think my mother was more normal "back then", but she wasn't. like, we had crazy screaming matches all the time, neighbours would complain, and my mother would talk about it as if i was a demon child, like there was something wrong with ME, like everything was MY fault. ignoring how i wasn't even ten years old and as if she wasn't screaming back at me even louder. even now she'd start going at me, saying "she's been screaming ever since she was three years old" like what the fuck?? as if three year olds aren't basically ALL nurture at that point.

it does fit now that i know she's a narcissist, though. when i was a child that was cute, smart, pretty, which all added to HER status, she was nice to me. when i'm lacking, suddenly i'm worthless. she only ever considered me as a tool for her own social status.

in my teenage years, i got so sick of her that i started avoiding her. at one point after (yet another) huge argument, i resolved for a while to just ignore the batshit crazy shit she said, and just humour her. so she'd call me fat and ugly and i'd just stay silent and move away. which was what my dad had been doing for years.

but nowadays she's literally crazy. she'd start yelling at any one of us over the tiniest things. like if my she offered to heat up pizza (which i bought) for my dad, and he responded in a way that was unaccedptable to her (i.e. "it's ok i'll heat it up myself") she'd sit him down, yell at him, and insult him for hours. i listen to this shit all the time in my room because she's so loud.

she'd lecture him for hours. and she's so rude, so insulting, so belittling. she'd cuss at him, call him useless. and all the time she's spending his money, living in the house he's paying for, not even cleaning the house or raising the children who are the product of BOTH of them.

she'd say she's the calm one, and that he's violent and abusive towards her. and 2 seconds later she'd be screaming and cussing. she'd gaslight him.

to be honest, i've seen my dad put his hands on her neck once or twice, but those times were in the midst of insane arguments where she'd just swing her arms at anything that moved. including me, who was a child. and because she wasn't discriminating in where or who she hit, and never held back her strength, i'm sure it was incredibly dangerous for me. he never actually strangled her, though. like he'd just put his hand on her neck and then back off, like he's ashamed of himself. but that's incredible self-control on his part, all things considered. my mother can goad and insult and belittle like no one i've ever seen. if i had my dad's strength, if i had to put up with this bitch going off on me every single day and not giving me a single moment of peace, all while i earn all the money AND do all the work in this fucking household, i think i would've goddamn murdered her.

and in fact i think i've hurt her worse than he ever has. and that's because she's hurt me worse than i've ever hurt her, and i'm just talking about physically. she's hurled glass objects at my head. she's swung huge sticks at me indiscriminately. not even taking into account how she's my mother and she'd probably inflicted many times more psychological damage on me than i've ever inflicted on her.

i don't know what positive things she's ever done. like she'd act like going out to get takeaway for us was a huge sacrifice, something to be praised. meanwhile my dad and i are just glad that she's out of the house so there won't be any arguments or loud noises, and we can work from home in peace. she'd ridicule me and my dad if we asked for some silence during work hours, and proceed to NOT give us silence by watching her tv shows loudly, yet she'd get angry at us for making any (truly ANY sound, like closing a cupboard too loudly) when she's having a video call for church work. unpaid work. my dad and i are the only ones drawing a salary.

she'd act like her money was hers to spend, ignoring how she has the responsibility to provide for her 2 kids, and ignoring how her daily expenses are all on my dad's card.

it's already a long post (again) but i'm trying to say she's a narcissist, incapable of self-awareness, a hypocrite, violent, and honestly kind of stupid.

and her existence in my early life has made me overly possessive of things i consider mine (she'd take my things, go into my space), afraid of showing my cards to anyone (she'd belittle me), afraid to be emotional (she'd belittle me), afraid to trust anyone (she'd dismiss me). and i think that's why i enjoy living out of a suitcase so much.

all my belongings assessable at a glance. my things are always with me. no one can rearrange them. also my hatred for clutter because my mother is always so scatterbrained and never knows what she has or where they are.

it's why i spend so much time rearranging my belongings at home, and always worry about being able to haul them out quickly if there's a fire. other people display their treasured belongings. i lock them in boxes.

just earlier today she was lecturing my dad again when i went out to look for something. i closed the cupboards too loudly a few times, so she ran over to scream and throw things at me and assault me. i'm really not making this up. she threatened to sever parental ties with me (again). i just go back into my room. later i come out again, and as i'm walking back into my room she throws something at my head. for no fucking reason. i slam the door, and immediately she's gone looking for my room key. she opens my door and starts trying to throw my stuff out because she was to throw ME out for the night.

i live with this sort of madwoman. how could i ever dare to display anything i truly care about?

i was literally in the process of moving all my important items into a storage box to put inside my closet.

this is why i always lock my bedroom door whenever i close it. my dad knocks and waits for an answer before opening. my mother? nope. my brother has been screaming at her about this for years. she's just that entitled and just incapable of understanding the concept of boundaries.

i just don't feel safe. because of her. except this problem she gave me now means that i can't even trust anyone else either, regardless of how nice and good they are.

i hate her so much. i just hate her so much. i wish she'd get into an accident through her terrible and reckless driving, specifically in a way that car insurance and life insurance pay out, so we'd be rid of her and also get at least something back for all the years we've had to put up with her. for all the emotional trauma she's put us through.

this bitch gave me so many goddamn problems. i have so many interpersonal relationship hang ups. i'm masking all the goddamn time. i'm exhausted, stressed, and i STILL have to deal with her shit. and i STILL have to live in fear of the next problem she'll put the family through. maybe she'll hit someone with the car and WE'LL have to pay out because she doesn't even fucking work. it does seem likely enough. she's already a terrible driver and emptying my dad's medisave because hers is more fucking empty than mine.

god i fucking hate her.

fyp post

ive just been too stressed and worried and scared of failure to even talk about my final year project until it's done and ive received my grade. well, now it's all over and i can finally talk about it without wanting to literally die.

so anyway i did it in one week, and consulted my supervisor about like... 2 times. i didn't sleep for a week, i'm not too sure ? but i was doped up on coffee.

i was like, as long as i pass... turns out i got an A-, which honestly is far far beyond my wildest dreams. i initially thought there's no way i'd ever get to do a masters with a shitty fyp, and that my academia life would end with a bachelors... but this grade has given me renewed hope? some professors said i lacked self confidence but like i seriously have no idea whether im actually good or if it's just inflated because other people are shit. some say that's the same thing but idk

in any case im not interested in academia unless it's necessary later in my life, because research just stresses me out so much. like i care about theories and stuff and i'll gladly debate about them, but i don't care in any meaningful or practical way. it stops bothering me the moment we end the conversation. im just intensely unmotivated for research without practical applications.

anyway it's on to the next thing that i can worry myself to death over and never talk about until it's done and settled: finding a job

starting to think i seriously need a therapist. as opposed to previously when i thought having a therapist would just be nice. i have a lot of unresolved and completely unaddressed issues

prose is just an edited version of this post because i couldn't be bothered. the poetry was basically written in bits on my phone during the class itself (sent it to myself via telegram) then edited. hz9101 was one of the easiest mods ive ever taken and it's totally worth it for the free A

2020

some things that i have been thinking about:

  • how i hate my mom
  • how my parents are pretty terrible parents
  • admitting to myself that i have self-esteem and intimacy issues
  • how i have a HUGE procrastination issue, which according to experts is because i'm afraid of failure, which... is just true
  • how i mf hate everything on this earth sometimes
  • how a load of money would make me feel instantly more secure and less sad and crabby towards the world in general.

to be honest there hasn't been a lot of positive things happening lately. i mean, most things in my life are on track, but things being on track doesn't exactly inspire a lot of happiness in me.

for now i gotta write my damn essays, so i can spend some time crying for stress relief. then after i manage to graduate, take a month-long vacation or something and write a little bit. maybe progress as a person a bit. but, you know, academics first.

god i hate how this world works.

stress

so my stress is either simmering 10% to 20%, or full blown at 100%. there is no in between.

at 100%, my hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows literally fall out. i have crazy tension headaches, and also an incessant need to nap. my heartbeat is apparently abnormally fast too, and i feel on the verge of fainting or screaming all the time. on top of that, if the stress gets too bad, i literally start having flu symptoms. i am definitely not actually ill, because every single problem clears up the moment the thing causing me stress is removed.

do i have an extreme stress reaction? who knows. but i'm pretty sure that every time i go to 100% stress level, my lifespan gets shortened.

18 November 2017

changing your beliefs? why are you doing that?

a lot of people change their beliefs because they "have" to. which i think is ridiculous and delusional.

it's a real thing that some parents suddenly become less homophobic when their kid turns out to be not straight, or dads becoming more feminist when they get a daughter. and the root of the whole issue is that they didn't understand the problem until someone they loved became the problem.

then they had to chose between putting the problem first, or their loved one first. and when they pick their loved one, it doesn't really mean they're less of a bigot. i mean, technically, yeah, your mom might stop using "gay"as a slur, but it's really out of necessity, if you really think about it.

these people didn't think about the issue, and realise that there's nothing inherently inferior or problematic about being not straight, or female. these people didn't think about it and realise, hey, i should try to be mindful about my stereotypes, and subconscious stereotypes. they didn't consciously choose to be nice people.

the presence of the non-straight loved one in their lives, for example, is like the only thing that made them think about it or try to change their ways. to put it another way, if the issue didn't concern their loved one, they'd probably be just as bigoted as ever, and all chill about it too.

i mean, yeah, good that people are becoming less of dicks, even if it's not entirely voluntary, or conscious, but i don't think it's anything worth celebrating on an individual level.

i mean, if you're going to tell me, "oh, i support the LGBTQ+ now! my nephew is gay" i'm just going to think you're intellectually weak. and pathetic. and without your own opinions.

really? it took your nephew being gay to make you realise supporting the lgbtq should be a given? or are you saying that you only care about them now that your nephew is one of "them"? because both options are pathetic. changing your mind like that is not something to brag about. it makes me think that you lack the intellectual rigour to examine things without your emotional bias. which doesn't bode well for you making any decisions, period. not just your lgbtq-related decisions.

in any case, whenever i come across one of these cases where e.g. a parent figure becomes less of a bigot when their child turns out to be part of the group that they discriminate against, i think, oh, that's great for the child. the parent? kind of pathetic of the parent. but it did turn out well for the child, and pretty okay overall. so i tend not to hang on to that too much.

but seriously. i think it's pathetic.

well, it's MORE pathetic to be a bigot, so i guess this is better in comparison. ya know, the lesser evil and everything.
